I do this work because I believe clothing can influence how a person feels, moves, and presents themselves to the world. A well-fitted garment can bring confidence, comfort, and freedom of movement. For a dancer or performer, the right costume can become part of the performance rather than a distraction from it.

My passion is helping each dancer feel like the performer in the spotlight. I love taking an idea and transforming it into a costume that supports the choreography, reflects the performer’s personality, and creates a memorable stage presence. The most rewarding part is seeing a dancer feel confident, comfortable, and ready to perform in something created especially for them.

That purpose also extends beyond the stage. Everyday clothing, bridal gowns, formalwear, and meaningful garments deserve careful workmanship and an individualized fit. Alterations can restore a favorite garment, make special-occasion clothing feel more comfortable, extend the useful life of clothing, and help someone feel more like themselves.

I am inspired by the transformation that skilled sewing can create. Sometimes it begins with fabric and an original design. Other times, it begins with a garment that does not fit correctly, needs repair, or no longer works for the person wearing it. In every case, I enjoy finding a thoughtful solution and using my experience to make the garment more beautiful, functional, and personal.

Sewn 2 Dance was built from that passion: creating, improving, and preserving garments through craftsmanship, creativity, and personal service. Whether I am helping a dancer step confidently onto the stage, preparing a gown for an important celebration, or making everyday clothing fit more comfortably, I want every client to feel seen, supported, and confident in what they wear.

Meet the Owner

I’m Charmaine, the founder and owner of Sewn 2 Dance. Sewing has been part of my life for more than 45 years, giving me extensive hands-on experience in garment construction, alterations, patternmaking, fitting, and detailed embellishment work.

My experience has taught me that a beautifully made garment must do more than look good—it must fit the wearer, support movement, function properly, and help the person wearing it feel confident. I bring that same level of care to every project, whether I am creating a one-of-a-kind performance costume, altering a bridal or formal gown, repairing a favorite garment, or improving the fit of everyday clothing.

As a designer and business owner, I enjoy combining traditional sewing skills with creative problem-solving, fit-focused decision-making, and forward-thinking production methods. Much of my work is completed in-house, allowing me to remain closely involved throughout the design, fitting, construction, alteration, and finishing process.

I believe personal service matters. I take time to listen, understand what each client needs, examine the garment carefully, and recommend an approach that considers fit, function, construction, budget, and timeline. My goal is to provide honest guidance, skilled workmanship, and thoughtful attention to the details that make each garment feel right for the individual wearing it.
