This Privacy Policy explains how Siouxland Made, LLC (“Siouxland Made,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you visit siouxlandmade.com or use our directory, marketplace, forum, job board, or related services (collectively, the “Site“). This Policy applies to visitors, consumers, Listing owners, Members, and Vendors. It does not apply to the independent websites, apps, or practices of businesses listed on the Site.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide to Us

  • Account and contact information: name, business name, email address, phone number, mailing/business address, and login credentials.
  • Listing content: business descriptions, categories, photos, product information, pricing, links to your website and social media accounts.
  • Vendor and payment-related information: tax ID or Social Security number (for sole proprietors), and information needed to connect your Stripe or PayPal account. We do not directly collect or store full payment card numbers; those are handled by our payment processors.
  • Content you submit: forum posts, event listings, promotions, job postings, resumes submitted to the reverse job board, reviews, and messages sent through the Site or to us.
  • Communications: information you provide when you contact us, subscribe to our newsletter, or respond to surveys.

Information Collected Automatically

  • Usage data such as pages viewed, search queries, and links clicked.
  • Device and log data such as IP address, browser type, and operating system.
  • Cookies and similar technologies, as described in Section 6 below.

Information from Third Parties

  • Information from payment processors (Stripe, PayPal) confirming transaction status (we do not receive full card numbers).
  • Information from social media platforms if you interact with our Facebook or Instagram accounts or use social sign-in.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and administer Listing, Member, and Vendor accounts and subscriptions;
  • Operate the marketplace, including processing orders, coordinating pickups, and collecting and remitting Iowa sales tax on marketplace transactions;
  • Display business Listings, products, events, promotions, job postings, and reviews on the Site;
  • Send transactional communications, such as order confirmations, pickup reminders, and account or subscription notices, including the 30-day advance notice required before any subscription price increase;
  • Send the weekly newsletter and other marketing communications to subscribers who opt in, and allow opt-out at any time;
  • Operate the community forum, job board, and reverse job board;
  • Investigate reported reviews, complaints, unfulfilled orders, missed events, or suspected violations of our Terms and Conditions or role-specific agreements;
  • Maintain the security of the Site and prevent fraud; and
  • Comply with legal obligations, including Iowa sales tax remittance.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information in the following circumstances:

  • Publicly, as part of the Site’s core function. Business Listing information, Vendor product listings, events, promotions, job postings, reverse job board resumes (for job seekers who submit them), and forum posts are visible to the public or to other Members, depending on the feature.
  • With payment processors. Stripe and/or PayPal process marketplace payments according to their own privacy policies and terms.
  • With pickup organizers and hosts. Information necessary to coordinate a collective or individual pickup (such as order contents and pickup time) is shared with the relevant pickup organizer, host, or vendor.
  • With service providers. We use third-party vendors for hosting, email delivery, and website analytics who process information on our behalf and are contractually restricted from using it for other purposes.
  • For legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, to comply with a valid legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Siouxland Made, our Users, or the public.
  • In a business transfer. If Siouxland Made is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.

4. Public Reviews

Reviews submitted about a Listing, Member, or Vendor are publicly visible, together with the reviewer’s name or username as configured on the Site. Reviews are not verified or endorsed by Siouxland Made. If you believe a review violates this Policy or our Terms, contact us.

5. Data Retention

We retain account and Listing information for as long as your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, comply with legal and tax obligations (including Iowa sales tax records), and enforce our agreements. Forum posts, reviews, and past event or product listings may remain visible after an account is closed unless removal is requested and we determine removal is appropriate.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Site uses cookies and similar technologies, including those associated with our WordPress/Jetpack hosting platform (operated by Automattic), to operate core features, remember your location and preferences, and understand how the Site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings and the Site’s cookie banner. 7. Your Choices and Rights

  • You can access and update most account and Listing information directly through your Site dashboard.
  • You can unsubscribe from marketing emails, including the weekly newsletter, using the unsubscribe link in any email or by contacting us. You cannot opt out of transactional or account-related messages while your account remains active.
  • You can request that we delete your account and associated personal information, subject to our need to retain certain records for legal, tax, or dispute-resolution purposes.
  • Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, or to opt out of certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information in Section 11.

Drafting note: If Siouxland Made expects a meaningful number of Users from states with comprehensive privacy laws (e.g., California, Colorado, Iowa’s own consumer data protection law effective 2025), this section should be expanded with the specific rights and any required opt-out mechanism (e.g., ‘Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information’).

8. Children’s Privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Because Siouxland Made does not verify ages of visitors browsing the Site, and because our FAQs note the Site is not age-restricted for browsing purposes, all publicly promoted products and content must remain family-friendly. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided personal information through an account registration, we will take steps to delete it.

9. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on the Site with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
